Well Sussex Day didn’t start bright and cheerful did it – rain and more rain! But by the time I went into Chichester to meet my guests for the walking tour of the City, the rain had stopped and by the end of the tour the sun was shining!

I wonder what the weather was like on that very first “Sussex Day” 16th June 1276! Well I know that it was from then on known as St Richard’s Day, but the two dates are synonymous with a celebration of all that makes Sussex so very special!

I had to be up pretty early last Sunday as I’d been asked whether I may like to do a short telephone interview for Radio Sussex at 7.15 in the morning! If you fancy learning a little more about how Bishop Richard became a saint in the mid 13th Century and how his special day became Sussex Day, perhaps you’d like to listen to this short clip!
